Growth rate calculator.

Work out the growth rate between two data points.

How to calculate the growth rate.

This calculator applies a simple compound growth rate formula to work out the rate of growth between two data points.

To calculate your growth rate (I use it for blog traffic):

  1. Enter your starting value (e.g. blog traffic in the first month).
  2. Enter your final value (e.g. blog traffic in the last month.)
  3. Enter the time period (e.g. the number of months between the two data points).

I find this most useful for setting and monitoring monthly growth targets. Many content marketing teams set month-over-month growth rate targets (of, say, 5%—your traffic should increase by 5%, each and every month). This formula allows you to measure your monthly growth rate, and model what would be required to hit your target.
