How to calculate the growth rate.
This calculator applies a simple compound growth rate formula to work out the rate of growth between two data points.
To calculate your growth rate (I use it for blog traffic):
- Enter your starting value (e.g. blog traffic in the first month).
- Enter your final value (e.g. blog traffic in the last month.)
- Enter the time period (e.g. the number of months between the two data points).
I find this most useful for setting and monitoring monthly growth targets. Many content marketing teams set month-over-month growth rate targets (of, say, 5%—your traffic should increase by 5%, each and every month). This formula allows you to measure your monthly growth rate, and model what would be required to hit your target.
